Cherie Northon, Ph.D.

  • B.A., M.A., Ph.D. – University of California Berkeley in Anthropology and Geography
  • University teaching: 25 years in cartography, map reading, GIS, history of cartography, and geography
  • Specialties: GIS and spatial analysis, computer cartography, historical cartography and mapmaking, and geographic education
  • Collaborations: biologists, environmental consultants, archaeologists, anthropologists, historians, educators, political scientists, attorneys, land use planners, and government agencies
  • Honors: Elected to the Society of Woman Geographers, a Fellow in the Royal Geographical Society, and Phi Beta Kappa
  • Currently she is also the Executive Director of the Anchorage Waterways Council
